A pair of attacks by Palestinians, including a stabbing at an office building in Tel Aviv, killed five people on Thursday, intensifying a two month-long wave of violence.
A knife-wielding Palestinian man fatally stabbed two Israeli men in a southern Tel Aviv office building before being apprehended, police and witnesses said.
Later Thursday, three people, including one Israeli, were killed and six wounded in a shooting and vehicle attack in the West Bank. The identities of the remaining fatalities were not clear.
Death toll rises
Police said the stabbing took place in a shop on the second floor of an expansive office building where a group of Israelis had gathered to hold afternoon prayers.
Thursday’s violence brings the number of Israelis killed to 17. At least 82 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire

Mali Attack: 3 Killed as Gunmen Take 170 Hostage in Hotel, 20 Indians in Building

BAMAKO: Gunmen went on a shooting rampage at the luxury Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Bamako today, seizing 170 guests and staff in an ongoing hostage-taking, the hotel chain said. At least three hostages have been killed, said Mali's security ministry.
Twenty Indians are among those staying at the hotel and are reported to be safe, the government has said. They work for an Indian business group based in Dubai and have a permanent room in the hotel.
According to local TV reports, 80 hostages have been freed.
Automatic weapons fire could be heard from outside the 190-room hotel in the city-centre, where security forces have set up a security cordon, an AFP journalist said.
Security sources said the gunmen were "jihadists" who had entered the hotel compound in a car that had diplomatic plates.
"It's all happening on the seventh floor, jihadists are firing in the corridor," one security source told AFP.
Malian soldiers, police and special forces were on the scene as a security perimeter was set up, along with members of the UN's MINUSMA peacekeeping force in Mali and the French troops fighting jihadists in west Africa under Operation Barkhane.
The attack took place on the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali's capital city Bamako.
The Rezidor Hotel Group, the US-based parent company of Radisson Blu, said two people were holding 170 people hostage.
The company said it was "aware of the hostage-taking that is ongoing at the property today, 20th November 2015. As per our information two persons have locked in 140 guests and 30 employees".
It added in a statement: "Our safety and security teams and our corporate team are in constant contact with the local authorities in order offer any support possible to reinstate safety and security at the hotel."
Attacks despite peace deal
The shooting at the Radisson follows a nearly 24-hour siege and hostage-taking at another hotel in August in the central Malian town of Sevare in which five UN workers were killed, along with four soldiers and four attackers.
Five people, including a French citizen and a Belgian, were also killed in an attack at a restaurant in Bamako in March in the first such incident in the capital.
The attack took place on the Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali's capital city Bamako.
Islamist groups have continued to wage attacks in Mali despite a June peace deal between former Tuareg rebels in the north of the country and rival pro-government armed groups.
Northern Mali fell in March-April 2012 to Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist groups long concentrated in the area before being ousted by an ongoing French-led military operation launched in January 2013.
Despite the peace deal, large swathes of Mali remain beyond the control of government and foreign forces.
The website of the Radisson Blu in Bamako says it offers "upscale lodging close to many government offices and business sites", serving as "one of the city's most popular conference venues" with "a stunning 508-square-metre ballroom and meeting rooms".
Radisson Blu, an upscale brand of the Radisson hotel chain, has more than 230 luxury hotels and resorts worldwide

PARIS (AP):
The Belgian extremist suspected of masterminding the deadly attacks in Paris died a day ago along with his female cousin in a police raid on a suburban apartment building, French officials said today, adding it was still not clear exactly how he died.
The body of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 27, was found in the building targeted Wednesday in the chaotic, bloody raid in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis and was identified based on skin samples, the Paris prosecutor's office said Thursday.
Abaaoud ended up near Paris after reportedly being in Syria, but officials have not said how he managed to travel across so many borders en route to the French capital.
In addition, authorities have not detailed his exact whereabouts or actions during the deadly rampage that killed 129 people last week in Paris.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said France did not know before last week's deadly attacks that Abaaoud was in Europe, but said he was believed to be behind four of six attacks thwarted since spring by French authorities.
Three police officials have told The Associated Press that a woman who died in the police raid was Abaaoud's cousin.

One said the woman, Hasna Aitboulahcen, is believed to have detonated a suicide vest Wednesday in the building after a brief conversation with police officers.
The official confirmed an audio recording, punctuated by gunshots, in which an officer asks: "Where is your boyfriend?" and she responds angrily: "He's not my boyfriend!" Then loud bangs are heard.
The bodies recovered in the raid were badly mangled, with part of Aitboulahcen's spine landing on a police car, slowing down the identification process, according to one of the officials.
The three all spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not permitted to divulge details of the investigation.
French police launched the operation after receiving information from tapped phone calls, surveillance and tipoffs suggesting that Abaaoud was holed up in the apartment.
Eight people were arrested in the raid.
In Belgium, authorities launched six raids in the Brussels region today linked to Bilal Hadfi, one of the three suicide bombers who blew themselves up outside the Stade de France.

An official in the Belgian federal prosecutor's office told The Associated Press the raids were taking place in the suburb of Molenbeek and other areas of Brussels.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is continuing, said the actions were focusing on Hadfi's "entourage".
With France still reeling from the November 13 attacks that killed 129 and wounded hundreds, France's lower house of parliament, the National Assembly, voted Thursday to extend a state of emergency for three months. The measure now goes to the Senate, where it likely will be approved.
The state of emergency expands police powers to carry out arrests and searches, and allows authorities to forbid the movement of people and vehicles at specific times and places.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls had pressed for the state of emergency extension, warning that Islamic extremists might at use chemical or biological weapons.
"Terrorism hit France not because of what it is doing in Iraq and Syria ... but for what it is," Valls told lawmakers. "We know that there could also be a risk of chemical or biological weapons."
Valls did not say there was a specific threat against France involving such weapons, however.

The tide of global rage against the Islamic State group lends greater urgency to ending the jihadis’ ability to operate at will from a base in war-torn Syria. That momentum could also force a reevaluation of what to do about President Bashar Assad’s future and puts a renewed focus on the position of his key patrons, Russia and Iran.

ISIS has suffered a third day of heavy losses as the Russians continued their bombing blitz against the terror group.
Russian jets flew more than 100 combat sorties on Thursday, following 126 the day before, after President Vladimir Putin ordered the military to escalate their campaign in Syria.
His order came after it was confirmed the Russian plane crash in Egypt that killed all 224 people on board was downed in a terror attack, which ISIS-affiliated groups claimed responsibility for.

Russian anti-terror op in Syria
"The militants have admitted the death of 'Abu Nurlbagasi', 'Muhammad ibn Khayrat' and 'Al-Okab' as a result of Russian airstrikes in the area of Aleppo,” Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov, General Staff spokesman, told journalists Thursday.
Militant commander “Ahmad Zia” was eliminated in an airstrike near the Jubb al Ahmar mountain, while another high-ranking terrorist, “Abu Bakr”, was buried on Wednesday after being killed by Russian bombs, he added.
The terrorists are suffering heavy losses in manpower as a result of Russian airstrikes, Kartapolov said.
"In order to conceal the true number of casualties, the evacuation of the dead and wounded militants is carried out in the dark,” the spokesman added. "According to our data, due to heavy losses and the inability to bury all of the eliminated terrorists in accordance with Islamic tradition, the commanders decided to dump the bodies of ordinary militants in sewage pits."
The Russian Air Force has “completely disrupted" the command of militant jihadist units operating in the Homs province.
The General Staff is aware of cases when terrorist unit commanders refused to carry out orders from their superiors, Kartapolov said.
“The field commander with the call sign ‘Abu Husan’ violated the order of his senior commanders and refused to move his unit to the village of Telbisa.”
Meanwhile, fighters in the unit led by Jabhat al-Nusra commander Abu Musab as-Suri failed to carry out an order to eliminate Syrian government units near the village of Deir Hanna, Kartapolov said.
The Russian Air Force conducted a second massive air strike against Islamic State and other terror groups in Syria on Wednesday, hitting 206 targets, Kartapolov said.
“During the day, Russian aircraft carried out 126 sorties by Tu-160, Tu-22M3 planes from Russian territory and operational-tactical aviation from Hmeymim airfield [in Syria].”
The Su-34, Su-25, and Su-24M warplanes have conducted 100 sorties from Khmeimim airfield, in which 190 terrorist targets were destroyed, including 58 command centers, 41 arms depots and 17 fortified strong points.
Russia also fired 16 air-launched long-range cruise missiles, which wiped out seven critical terrorist facilities in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib.
The country’s long-range bombers hit 12 targets belonging to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the cities of Raqqa and Dier ez-Zor, Kartapolov said.
Russian air forces have 98 sorties scheduled for Thursday, when they plan to destroy 190 terrorist targets, the spokesman stressed.
As of 17:00 MSK (14:00 GMT), 60 flights were carried out and 138 targets destroyed, he added.

Russia has released footage which shows its fighter jets targeting oil trucks and a refinery, as Moscow confirmed it hit more than 200 targets in Syria in 127 sorties.
On Tuesday alone, the day Russia confirmed a terrorist attack caused the downing of a passenger jet in Egypt, it hit 206 targets a defence ministry source told RT. France meanwhile said it had destroyed 35 targets since the terrorist attack.
As well as flying from an airfield near Latakia, they also flew strategic bombers from Russian territory.
