Narendra Modi refuses to put on 'skull cap'

MNN
Ahmedabad, Sep 19,

As Modi ended his fast, a steady stream of skull caps and hijabs poured into the fast venue.

But while he flaunted several headgears offered to him by various people, he perhaps denied the lens-men an international photo opportunity as he declined to put on a skull cap offered to him by a Muslim cleric.

Declining the skull cap, Modi sought the shawl worn by Imam Shahi Saiyad and accepted it around his neck, leaving the Imam fuming. Imam said he was invited as a representative of the Sufis. “In our faith a cap is given to a disciple by a saint with his blessings and I had offered him the cap with my genuine blessings that he may have success in erasing the blot of 2002, which he still carries. But as I offered him the cap, he told me in Gujarati he did not wear those caps,” he said.
